- Recorded 13-15 November 2001; additional overdubs recorded Jan 2002. Oh yeah...THIS song. Dana really likes this one for some reason; Jay and I decided to add this for historical purposes. The ending is a perfect example of our somewhat hit-and-miss absurdist humour. Marilyn Manson (long before he became a past-his-prime joke, and even longer before his true identity as a sleaze of the lowest order was publicly confirmed) was to Raymond what Brian Wilson is to me (musical idol, as if it needed clarification). He'd just done a cover of Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics that was getting a fair amount of play. Truth be told, it was pretty good (saying such these days makes me a sad sad panda). Anyway, I had the exceedingly dumb idea to take another 80s song and parody it in a screamo sound. In this case, it was Corey Hart's "Sunglasses at Night" song. In all fairness, we had been playing the just released Metal Gear Solid 2, and there was an *extremely* long text event that took about 30 minutes or so; even just pressing the button at a speed so fast it would make a woodpecker blush did absolutely jack. So once we had the opportunity to save and quit, we hopped on it quicker than a speed freak on Dr Pepper. We needed to blow off some steam. Generator got popped in the PS2, and hilarity ensued.
And now you know...and knowing's half the battle!
